What is IpDoor ?

IpDoor is an integrated system of devices and applications for video door entry and access control. It is based on IP communication between access devices, response devices, and applications installed in common devices, such as Smartphones and PCs.

Main components

  • Outdoor stations: Outdoor stations also called 'door phones' are devices equipped with a microphone, speaker, display, camera, and access interfaces appropriate either for an audio/video call or for recognizing a user and enabling access. License plate models differ in shape, number of buttons, presence of display, and advanced features.
  • Indoor stations: Indoor stations also called 'monitors' are devices equipped with a microphone, speaker, touch display and generally used to answer audio video calls from the outdoor station and open the door. Since they are Android-based, they can manage third-party applications such as home automation. Indoor workstations can be built-in or wall-mounted, with different sizes and features.
  • Controllers and Readers: 'Readers' are interface devices to enable access to people via code, badge, QR. 'Controllers' are the brains to which the readers connect and are connected to the IpDoor system either via PoE cable or WiFi. They also have contacts to open doors.
  • App: IpDoor 'Apps' allow you to receive audio/video calls from devices (Smartphone, Tablet or PC), even remotely, manage access, and generally are the main interface to the IpDoor system.
  • Licenses: 'Licenses' are used to enable additional features of the system. For example, remote call to an app, adding additional call buttons or users with access codes, integration with external devices, and many other things. They can be unlimited in duration or renewable on an annual basis.
  • Administration software: The 'Console' is the essential web tool for programming and managing the entire IpDoor installation. The 'On-premise Server' is an alternative option to have an IpDoor installation completely isolated from the Internet network useful in particular protected environments.

Architecture

  • Cloud vs. On-Premise: There are two possible architectures: the first (the most common and flexible) is based on the Cloud server that handles remote configuration and communications; the second, for particularly armored environments (e.g., banks) is based on a local server (On-Premise).
  • Local communication: The devices work within the local network and communicate via IP using multiple local protocols (SIP, HTTP, ...). For added reliability, the system is designed to work even offline and in the absence of a router by supporting point-to-point communication between devices.
  • Remote communication: In the case of Cloud architecture, the devices download the configuration and store the data locally so that they can also work offline. Therefore, it is possible to configure the system in the office even before installation and still modify and manage the system without having to travel to the site. Calling other remote devices may require the purchase of a license.

Main Functions

  • Communication: External locations allow a video call to an internal device or App to be initiated at the push of a button.
  • Command: Through the internal devices it is possible to control the opening of an electric lock connected to another device.
  • Access: Outdoor stations have various interfaces (PIN, QR, NFC, BADGE, BLUETOOTH, FACE RECOGNITION) to identify a visitor and depending on the rules set allow access.
  • Integrations: The IpDoor system has multiple protocols and APIs for integrating other systems. For example, temporary login credentials can be generated from B&B reservation systems in a fully automated manner.
  • Administration: Through the Web Console or the Administrator's App, it is possible to customize the operation of the system in every aspect and consult access events, system events, or even remote maintenance.

First Steps

  • Mechanical Installation: In this section you will find directions for installing IpDoor devices.
  • Preparation Configuration: If you have purchased an IpDoor license plate, it is important to understand the system's operating logic and the use of the administration console before beginning the physical installation so that you understand how the architecture of the IpDoor world is organized.https://www.ipdoor.com/ipdoor-access/
